Susan F. Tierno, Ed.D.
Dr. Tierno’s education career has spanned K-12 to Higher Ed. A member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, she is a recipient of the National Creative Thinking Recognition Award for innovative programs for teachers, parents and kids from the Creative Thinking Association of America. Dr. Tierno is also co-founder of the Let’s Think Kids Foundation.
Dr. Tierno’s dissertation focused on Hispanic Parent Engagement, which has now evolved into her book “¡Andamio!”, now in its 2nd Editon. Dr. Tierno’s life experiences—and growing up within a military family that descended from immigrants—formed her thinking and shaped her career of service to parents, students and her fellow teachers.
I believe that ¡Andamio! is significant and relevant because parents want to know how to help their children in their educational journey. Parent trainings are essential in order for true engagement to take place. I can tell you that Susan’s model works. I personally observed how much it helped the parents from our district that participated in this training.”
