I found the title a bit odd, but I understand the reasoning behind it. The book itself is well-researched, with a warm, personal memoir feel. It can be very useful for educators serving, or interacting with, Spanish speakers that in addition to struggling with a language barrier might not be very familiar with the U.S. or with the world at large. This, of course, by no means describes all people from Spanish speaking countries, but it seems to be the group the book focuses on.
